From Stan Ransom

I am Stan Ransom, class of 1951. I was in the YGC, singing under Barty, from 1949-51. In 1951 we took a concert trip to the Caribbean, stopping in Puerto Rico, Haiti, Santo Domingo and Cuba. We were cautioned not to ask political questions, and in dictator ruled countries, such as Cuba and Santo Domingo, the people were afraid to talk with us. When we began singing, the people warmed up to us. Barty always said, “If there was more singing and less talking, countries could get along a great deal better.” This was a lesson we all remembered.
